BLOOMINGDALES CHALLENGE

Have you cast your vote for the Bloomingdales Window Challenge? I think of the three choices, it might come down to two. Eddie Ross competing for Elle Décor uses bold and groovy pieces in his room including the blue lamps and orange pop-art print by Campbell Laird, set against Hinson's spatter-paint wallpaper. Great pink & orange touches, too. Apartment Therapy founder, Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan's writer's room is a strong contender as well. I love the trompe l'oeil bookcases painted by Mark Chamberlain [artist and resident Color Therapist at Apartment Therapy] juxtaposed against Neisha Crosland's Birdtree wallpaper. Chamberlain's earthy palette and bookcases with objects were inspired by the famous Gubbio Period Room at the MET. Good luck to all and don't forget to cast your vote!

  1. Thanks for the tip on Blommingdales....I don´t like ANY of the 3 rooms actually....the one looks WAY to like a Grandma lives there ,,,not that there is anything wrong with a Grandma but just WAY not fresh and cool the way I like to live. The one with orange has some good things in it but I get "antsy" just looking at it,, it is way toooooo busy and I feel he just threw "stuff" in there just to fill up space. The one with sailboats on the wall is way too masculine and my own living room looks LOTs better than that one ;) I prefer the Scandanavian,,cool clean look ..almost Zen like with NO cheap looking "schnick-schnack" sitting all over the place collecting dust that serves no REAL purpose except to fill up space :)....and true what a lot of comments said was,,,,not kid friendly...heck they weren´t even GROWN-UP friendly :) To each his own but I would not feel comfortable in any of them but I could not leave a comment there cause I don´t want to sign up and leave a password and all that.
I love your blog and all the hints and tips you give us all. THanks for the inspiration!!

  2. Hi Cynthia, you and many other people have very passionate, emotionally charged responses to the windows at Bloomingdales - so, I guess their promotion is working to grab attention!! I agree about some of the visual clutter but also think it might give greater impact to store [shop/store] windows. Thank you for reading and commenting!
    All best, Barbara
