GLOBE-TROTTING WITH TORY BURCH

I am so looking forward to seeing {and buying} many of the pieces in the upcoming Tory Burch Resort Collection. She seems to get so much, so right—the globe-trotting inspired prints, the vibrant colors, the 70s sensibilities, and advertising shoots that are spot-on to the spirit and genre of her style and brand. The inspiration for this globally-inspired collection came from India and Africa. Necklaces crafted from beads and shells accessorize the silks and chiffons. As Burch expands her stores into Asia, this globe-trotting collection is bound to be a big hit. Just love.

TINA BARNEY | SOCIAL STUDIES

Tina Barney, one of America's most renowned contemporary art photographers, has a new book coming out in May called Players. The book will feature commercial assignments along with Tina's editorial, portrait, and fashion photography. Players debuts on the heels of a recent documentary about Tina directed by Jaci Judelson titled Social Studies, that follows Barney as she sets out to photograph the upper class milieu of Europe.

Tina Barney's sets and subjects are completely intertwined aesthetically—creating a depth of personality with every photograph. This can be seen in the Spring 2010 fashion images she shot for Tory Burch {shown just above}. Having both grown-up in the same East Coast environments that are true to the brand's waspy personality, made Tina Barney a savvy pick by Burch.

Both the documentary and book can be purchased here.

LONG MAY YOU RUN | LIZZIE FORTUNATO

Embellishments continue to be in fashion from part world tribal to high street jewel. Studs on Tory, ruffles and bows on Kate and the perfect works on Jenna's J.Crew tees. I love the spirit behind Lizzie Fortunato Jewels. Her new collection Long May You Run is inspired by the textures and patterns of the American West. Designed for the city girl, packed and ready for a great adventure—the collection features hand-covered leather beads, crystal studded collars, and hand-embroidered bandana style necklaces. In addition to her road-trip inspired Fall/Winter 2009 collection, Elizabeth [Lizzie] recently designed her second collection for Victoria Bartlett's VPL line, which showed on the FW09 runway during New York Fashion Week. RESORT FASHION 2010 | BLACK & WHITE

Resort Collections of 2010 are predominately black and white with accents of deep blues and reds or muted grays and camels—which I much prefer to the jewel tones of some collections. I love the fresh, modern aesthetic of these black and white dressy-casual pieces from Yves Saint Laurent and Tory Burch.
