Summer Dreams

Summer is just around the corner. You can see it both in the light and in the shade of blue in the sky. It's still a bit chilly here along the Massachusetts coast, but we are getting close to warmer days. For a little more daydreams of summer and summer light, see this post about my friend, plein air painter Simon Parkes.

  1. Yes - the long afternoon light is teasing us with what is too come - and it can't happen soon enough for me!! Love the Lartigue and I am familiar with the lovely work of Simon Parkes although I have never met him. Love his beautiful plein air paintings!!

  2. Hi Q! Yes... the light is magnificent! I am about to drive across the marsh now. I thought the Lartigue had just the right feeling. Have a great evening!

  5. I miss the thrill of welcoming in summer since moving to TX. Now, it's the opposite. Thrill has turned to dread of the heat and humidity. We can't have it all in life can we? I love Simon's work. Can you imagine making your living in such a manner and creating such beauty on canvas? I hope you and Billy will be running those beaches in the warm rays of the summer sun soon Barbara.
Big hug to you both for a great week ahead. xo xo

  6. Hi Deb! I bet you miss that so much. It's a shame that the humidity descends upon you so quickly in TX. The amazing thing about Simon is that he gets out there and catches the light. We know how quickly certain light changes, and he almost always manages to capture it. His work is beautiful and I am lucky to have several pictures. It's still a tad chilly for Billy at the beach [wind mostly], but soon he will be in his glory! Love to you and Buff. ox
